React/Gutenberg Developer @ Groundhogg Inc

Convert PHP/jQuery WordPress plugin UI to React and Gutenberg

Hi, My name is Adrian and I’m the CEO of Groundhogg Inc. ( We help small businesses launch their marketing and sales funnels so they can grow faster.

Our product is a CRM and Marketing Automation WordPress plugin with extensions.

We have built a next-level WordPress plugin over the last 2 years, but now we’re looking to take our project further by providing an unparalleled user experience by updating our Codebase to a React/Gutenberg first approach.

We have built a lot of our codebase based on PHP and jQuery because that is what we know, but as the WordPress project evolves, we must evolve our technology with it.

Our project is vast, 45+ extensions plus our core plugin. This project is going to be long term and requires a significant time investment, late nights, headaches, and lots of coffee.

We are looking to work with someone willing to work with us and provide small businesses using WordPress nothing short of the best Marketing automation and CRM tool on the market.

About our team

Our team is small, we have 2 core PHP developers who built the whole project. You will be working with us closely as we migrate to a React/Gutenberg first approach.

About our business

We operate a freemium business model. We provide our core plugin for free and sell paid extensions and support.

We have ~1000 customers who pay yearly for updates and support.

About our future

We want to be the defacto marketing automation solution for WordPress businesses, much like how WooCommerce is the defacto e-commerce solution. We are aiming for global domination of the Marketing Automation industry in WordPress by 2030.

About the job

We will be starting with milestone-based contracts. We want to “date” before we “mate.” If we can work well together and get great results, we’ll move you to a permanent member of our team.

About the software

Our plugins are PHP/jQuery for the most part. Some plugins are simpler than others. We’d like to preserve backward compatibility if possible as we have many third-party developers building extensions for our software. Fortunately, we have a lot of builtin systems and classes that should make it possible.

What we need from you

We need you to…

– Show up with enthusiasm
– Be open to feedback
– Work fast and efficiently

To apply for this position

Since this is going to be a long term relationship we want to make sure we are going to be a good fit.

Please record a short 3-minute video and tell us a little about yourself, projects you’ve worked on, your hobbies, what you love about building software, and anything else you think we should know about you.

Please include a link to watch the video in your cover letter. We will not be reviewing applications without a video.

Answer the following 3 questions and include the answers in your cover letter:

  • What do you love about the WordPress community?
  • If a genie granted you 3 wishes what would you wish for?
  • What is your least favorite thing about customer support?

Send your cover letter, video, question answers & resume to info [at] with the subject line, “P.S. Job Application.”

I’m looking forward to meeting you!

Adrian, CEO
