  1. I like to see the shift to a la carte pricing. It will be interesting to see what affect this trend has on the marketplace. It seems to me a natural outcome of doing business; clients want this as an option. In fact, my departure from WP Valet was precipitated by me lobbying for a la carte services as a gateway for the monthly maintenance plans, which contradicted their preference.

    • There are definitely some benefits to a la carte pricing, it is indeed a great “gateway”, however it doesn’t necessarily fit into the WP Valet model right now. We are targeting clients differently and that’s really all there is to it. Maybe later down the road we will expand to offer an a la carte type service list, but for now we are focusing on our service as a total package. 🙂

Thanks so much for the mention Brian!

  2. Hey Brian,

    1) HOW DID YOU WRITE THIS ENTIRE POST IN 30 MINUTES?!
    2) I really appreciate the kind words. For real. I’m really interested to see where this niche goes, but it feels like everyone is really starting to push each other, and that can only be awesome for people lookign for WP help.

    You’re the man!

    • Haha,

      1) Practice 🙂
      2) My pleasure. And I agree. I love what all of you guys are doing and I think it’s good for the community and the betterment of the service industry around WordPress in general.

  3. Hey Brian, great article. In the future, make sure to check out WP-MONITOR http://www.wp-monitor.com/

WP-MONITOR has the best WordPress maintenance service plans in the industry. Our plans provide Daily WordPress Backup, Plugin Updates, Uptime Monitoring, Traffic Reports, SEO reports, Broken Links reports, Security Scanning, Malware removal, Theme Changes, changes to Pages and Posts, more features than any other WordPress Monitoring plan.

  4. Really good article, it inspired me to take the WordPress maintenance and support work I’ve been doing for a few years and package it up as WP Minder: http://www.wpminder.com.

My focus is on small businesses who don’t have IT support and don’t have the time or inclination (or sometimes technical confidence) to stay on top of site maintenance, updates, etc. I try to fill the gap and provide protection in case of emergencies. And if the worst happens, I’m there for support.
