A recent amendment to the WordPress plugin guidelines states a plugin cannot imply that it “can create, provide, automate, or guarantee legal compliance.” Mika Epstein explains this change in detail at Make WordPress. There is also a new page on compliance disclaimers in the plugin handbook. No doubt this is a wise addition.
