A WordPress theme with the “Startup” trademark has sold for $10,100

Step 1: make a bland WordPress theme and call it Startup.

Step 2: file for a super generic trademark and get it.

Step 3: profit.

Pretty amazing stuff, really. I can’t imagine anything but the trademark would’ve garnered the price tag. The theme has the ‘startup’ slug on WordPress.org, and a “premium” version available on the author’s website.

The US trademark system is silly.
