All of us use the web so much each day, but I wonder how many know about the history of the URL itself? After reading Zack Bloom‘s post about the history of the paths and queries in URLs, I certainly learned more than I thought I would. He also has a post that covers the history of the domains, protocols, and ports.
It makes me sad that some browsers (especially on mobile) are de-emphasizing the URL.
