Job Description
We are seeking a WordPress Developer responsible for front-end and backend development. This position requires a combination of programming skills (namely PHP, HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript) and aesthetics (understanding element arrangements on the screen, the color and font choices, and so on). The candidate should have a strong understanding of industry trends and the WordPress content management system. Experience with responsive and adaptive design is required. This is a full-time, on-site position located in Dallas, Texas.
Responsibilities
- Designing and implementing new features and functionality
- Establishing and guiding the website’s architecture
- Working in a team environment and willingness to jump in and assist in other areas to get the job done
- Ensuring high-performance and availability, and managing all technical aspects of the CMS
- Helping formulate an effective, responsive design and turning it into a working website
- Integrating with a legacy CMS
Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience with a preference for a computer science related field
- 5+ years’ experience with WordPress related technologies
- Experience developing with and customization of the Genesis Framework
- Experience hosting multiple sites on WPEngine
- Experience with writing Sass while using a task runner like Gulp
- Experience building user interfaces for websites and/or web applications
- Experience designing and developing responsive design websites
- Experience with or knowledge of XML/JSON/SOAP in api architectures
- Comfortable working with debugging tools like Firebug, Chrome inspector, etc.
- Ability to understand CSS changes and ramifications for consistent style across platforms and browsers
- Ability to convert comprehensive layout and wireframes into working HTML pages
- Proficient understanding of code versioning tools such as Git or SVN
- Attention to detail in coding standards and code formatting
- Experience with Gutenberg and React
- Experience with working with third-party APIs
- Experience with BitBucket, GitLab, or GitHub
- A strong desire to learn new technologies and keep up with industry trends
