The Next Web broke a GitHub news embargo by accident when they announced Github’s unlimited free private repos. The author of this story, Matthew Hughes, vented on Twitter that it was WordPress’s fault for immediately publishing his post because it was backdated “in the past” rather than held for future publication.
A discussion followed on Post Status Slack — is this really a defect in WordPress or a user error? What could be done in the future (if anything) to prevent this from happening again?
An issue has been created in the Gutenberg repo on Github to discuss whether immediate publication of backdated posts without any warning is an interface problem or not.
