It’s not meteoric growth by any means, but it’s good to see over 127 block themes listed in the WordPress.org theme directory. Highlighting block themes in the navigation was a good idea and an odd one to oppose, but I guess change is always hard.
Even the most popular themes and builders like GeneratePress are still classic or hybrid themes. By the end of the year maybe some of them will be fully adapted to FSE, and I think that might be what makes the scene pop. Eric Karkovack thinks there needs to be a lot more PR done — and clear explanations of why it’s beneficial to move from the familiar to the new.
