Austin Smith has a great piece in an ongoing saga that involves the firing of Jotham Sederstrom at the New York Times (there are other links in the post if you aren’t familiar with the drama). Austin correctly point out that Journalists shouldn’t be punished for their software and CMS. Good quote:
“Product staff are not in the line of fire, yet [developers] decisions impact editors and reporters who are in the line of fire every day — and in creating a CMS, we define the basic parameters of their daily life.”
As developers, sometimes we don’t know where our themes and plugins will end up (and sometimes, perhaps, we do). The same goes for WordPress’s core code. Building all of these with quality not only saves us headaches, but potentially saving headaches and the jobs of those in certain industries.
