Dion Hulse has been working on the automatic update functionality for WordPress 3.7, and he’s ready for you to test it. His update on the Make WordPress Core blog has a lot of detail about how it works, and what will prevent automatic updates from being triggered.
Interestingly, the feature also makes hooks available to turn on auto updates for specific plugins or themes, though they aren’t enabled by default. That’s an interesting nugget.
