Adobe has now integrated Firefly 3, its generative AI engine, into Photoshop, enabling users to create images from text prompts or preset options without leaving the app.
The new Generate Image offering takes the Firefly-powered Generative Fill feature introduced last year to a new level.
An upgraded Generative Fill now includes a Reference Image tool, using uploaded images to guide Firefly’s generations instead of text prompts.
Generate Similar creates variations of images, while a new Enhance Detail feature improves sharpness and intricacy via upscaling.
Creative Cloud members can access the new features now by downloading the latest Photoshop (beta) app for desktop.
Federal Trade Commission Approves Ban Of Noncompete Agreements
This week, the US Federal Trade Commission (FTC) voted to ban noncompete agreements, making them nonenforceable for the majority of workers.
Noncompete agreements, which forbid workers from seeking a job with a competing business for a certain period, have been criticized for locking workers into jobs and suppressing wages.
Several states have already outlawed or limited the scope of noncompete agreements.
The FTC estimated that the ban would boost wages by between $400 billion and $488 billion over 10 years and lead to the creation of more than 8,500 new businesses per year.
Business groups are expected to challenge the legality of the ban, with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce calling it “blatantly unlawful.”
The ban would render existing noncompetes unenforceable for the vast majority of workers, though they could still apply to some senior executives.
