CMB2 is a really great metabox plugin. Development is lead by the team at WebDevStudios. I’m using it on the new Post Status to power the various meta data for custom post types. It’s easy to get setup, has a ton of field options (including repeating fields), and lots of control. And it has no field-creation UI at all, which I consider a feature.
