WordCamp Asia is Amazing

Are you coming to WordCamp Asia? It started today! (February 17-19 in Bangkok, Thailand.) With more than 60 speakers contributing to 2 days of talks, 100’s of organizers and volunteers, and contributor day, it is going to be an amazing event. [Get the whole schedule here.]

As a matter of fact, contributor day today was truly incredible. Over 500 people attended and contributed to the 21 teams that make up WordPress’ open source project. Topher DeRosia and I were table leads for the Photos Team, and worked relentlessly to get all of the photos moderated that were submitted during the day – which was over 200! We helped community members understand how to upload photos to the directory and answered questions that they had. As a result, the photo directory now has almost 6100 photos. I’m also really happy to report that disability accommodation at WCAsia has been thought of at every turn. I’ve been able to attend everything, and access all the areas of the venue easily. And the organizers have checked in with me to make sure that I’m not lacking anything. There are always things out of the ability to control – like where curb cuts are in a city – but everything that can be accommodated for, has been. I’m truly grateful to the organizers for their attention to details.
