With all the recent changes to the design of WordPress admin, the new default theme, and other design projects for other WordPress properties, I think this is a valuable lesson for us to remember: design is not a democracy. In our ecosystem, openness is pivotal and contributions are key; but design itself still cannot be processed by committee.

With each project that WordPress undertakes, leads are important; and trusting our leads is also important. Yes, mistakes may be made, but that’s what constructive feedback and iterative improvements are for. h/t Aaron Jorbin.
