There are three non-WordCamp events coming up you should check out.
A Day of REST
A Day of REST is a conference that will be dedicated to — you guessed it — the WordPress REST API. Organized by Human Made, A Day of REST will be an in-depth look at the REST API. If you really want to dig deep (and you should want to), this will be the event for you.
I’m also going to be the content partner for this event — so I’ll have more on speakers to expect and more coming soon. For now, know that it will be held in London on January 28th. It’s going to be awesome.
ThemeConf
Another UK-based conference is happening September 2nd-4th, and it’s dedicated to theming with WordPress. ThemeConf is being organized by Automattician’s Tammie Lister and Jack Lenox. Five of the eight confirmed speakers work for Automattic, which is a bit less corporate diversity than I’d like to see, but it’s still a stellar line-up and anyone in the UK or nearby doing theme work should look into this event.
WP Bootcamps
WP Bootcamp is having two events over the next couple of months. Happy Joe is putting on a WP Bootcamp in Tampa on Friday, September 25th and another in Austin on October 16th-17th. The Tampa event is part of the larger WordCamp Tampa and the Austin one is going on despite WordCamp Austin apparently falling through.
These events are designed to enable veterans of the military, but volunteers, mentors, and other helpers are very much wanted.
These are just three upcoming events — to add to a growing repository of niche WordPress events — in addition to the slate of WordCamps happening as we’ve come to expect, and of course you hopefully read the pitch for WordCampus today too.
