Mike Jolley has released a very handy Github to WordPress script, that might well be the new standard for such a tool.
Available on Github, the script is executed with a simple sh release.sh command.
If you manage your code on Github, this may improve your life a bit, and help you keep your WordPress.org plugins in sync better with the latest code. It takes pretty much all the things in consideration that you’ll want to look out for.
