Google News is attempting to feature more local blogs and news sources during breaking news cycles. “The changes will help smaller and local news publishers who wouldn’t typically appear in national news or at the top of Google’s news story sources.” Google does experiments constantly (in fact, they are also testing changing colors of links to black), and this is a win in my opinion, but the proof will be in the pudding.
