If or when WordPress will be moving to Git/Github has been a common question for a long time. Helen Hou-Sandi has written about her involvement in “coordinated research and planning around tooling” that might lead in this direction. Helen shared some early thoughts about repositories, workflows, issue tracking, and the broader ecosystem. Helen stressed the goal of her research and planning “is not about chasing the latest and greatest or evangelizing a preference.” Rather, “it’s important to identify the goals we have for the project and what pain points we are experiencing.”
