If you’re a developer, then i highly recommend reading this “Cult of the Complex” post from Jeffrey Zeldman on A List Apart. Zeldman covers the trend in the tech industry to make things (such as front end development) far more complicated than it needs to be: “The question for web designers should never be how complex can we design… but thatβs what it has become.”
This is an especially timely confession considering the technologies that developers are looking at today regarding the future of WordPress (in general) and Gutenberg (specifically). Challenges exist in design (and development), and it will always take great effort and hard work to make something “just work” for the user, but that should be the primary focus β not the technical complexities that get us there.
