Position Summary

AesirX is seeking a hands-on CTO with deep experience in Open-Source CMS platforms (WordPress, Woo, Joomla, Drupal) to lead our technical teams. This individual will not only serve as the architect of our technical vision in partnership with Ronni the Creator but also take an active role in the coding and development process. Given AesirX’s focus on compliance, blockchain, and decentralized identity, the CTO must bridge the gap between high-level strategy and hands-on execution, with support from the founder and partners.

As AesirX continues to scale rapidly, we need a CTO who can spearhead technical innovation while managing a growing team of developers, ensuring alignment with business objectives, and maintaining a collaborative environment with our network of CTOs within the R Family.

Core Responsibilities

1. Technical Leadership and Hands-On Development

• Architecture and Strategy: Lead the architectural decisions for WordPress, Joomla, Drupal, WooCommerce, and other platforms. Ensure technical scalability, privacy compliance (GDPR, ePrivacy), and effective integration of blockchain technologies like Concordium.
• Hands-On Coding: Actively contribute to the development process by coding alongside the team. This is a roll-up-your-sleeves role where the CTO will be expected to work directly on the codebase, performing code reviews and setting best practices.
• Elevating the Tech Team: Provide mentorship to the development team, guiding them to adopt new technologies, improve workflows, and ensure clean, maintainable, and scalable code.
• Collaboration with Other CTOs: Work closely with other CTOs in the R Family for technical collaboration, idea sparring, and support on cross-company projects.

2. Strategic Focus on Open-Source Platforms

• Lead the technical strategy for integrating privacy-compliant tools and features within WordPress, WooCommerce, Joomla, and Drupal.
• Build and maintain AesirX’s integrations with these CMSs while ensuring scalability and GDPR/ePrivacy compliance.
• Oversee the development of first-party data solutions, ensuring AesirX’s solutions empower users with privacy-compliant and blockchain-driven features.

3. Privacy, Blockchain, and Compliance

• Champion the integration of privacy-first solutions into AesirX’s product offerings (like AesirX Analytics & CMP, and Shield of Privacy), including GDPR-compliant features and decentralized identity systems​​.
• Utilize blockchain technologies (e.g., Concordium) to enhance security and compliance frameworks, ensuring AesirX is at the forefront of innovation in privacy and data management​​.

4. Technical Operations and Team Growth

• Scale the engineering team to support AesirX’s fast-paced growth, both locally and globally.
• Work with HR and existing CTOs in recruitment, onboarding, and development of engineers who can contribute to AesirX’s technical goals.
• Develop processes that ensure efficient project delivery and high-quality technical output.

5. Product Innovation and Go-to-Market Alignment

• Collaborate with Mikael Breinholst and other business stakeholders to align technical solutions with business development goals and go-to-market strategies.
• Drive the development of products that will differentiate AesirX in the privacy-first, blockchain-integrated analytics and eCommerce sectors​​​.

Candidate Profile

Must-Have Experience

• 15+ years of experience in software development, with at least 10 years in leadership roles.
• Extensive hands-on experience with WordPress, WooCommerce, Joomla, and Drupal: this includes architecting, coding, and integrating complex solutions within these platforms.
• GDPR and ePrivacy expertise, particularly in relation to CMS, eCommerce platforms, and third-party data handling​​.
• Strong background in privacy technologies (like Consent Management Platforms, first-party data solutions, and decentralized identity)​​.
• Proven experience with blockchain technologies (preferably Concordium), integrating blockchain for privacy, transparency, and compliance​​.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor a technical team while remaining active in the development process.

Preferred Experience

• Familiarity with eCommerce ecosystems beyond WooCommerce, such as Magento or Shopify, with an emphasis on privacy-focused integrations.
• Experience scaling start-up engineering teams from a small core to larger, geographically distributed teams.
• In-depth knowledge of cloud architecture and DevOps practices to enhance operational efficiency as the company scales.
• Knowledge of AI/ML integrations, especially in eCommerce and marketing applications.

Compensation Structure

• 1% Equity Vesting: Vesting over a 6-month period, fully earned by the end of the probation period based on performance.
• Cliff Period: After 3 months, the candidate will have earned a portion of equity if mutual fit and performance are verified.
• Post-6 Months: The role will transition into a compensated position, with future equity discussions based on company growth and performance.
