Rumspeed
About Rumspeed
Rumspeed is a managed WordPress hosting platform and technical partnership built for web agencies. We host and manage everything that comes with a client portfolio — domains, mailboxes, software licenses, plugin updates, and technical support. Our agency partners rely on us as their outsourced technical department, so they can focus on growing their businesses instead of managing infrastructure.
About the Role
We’re looking for a reliable, detail-oriented WordPress Support Technician to own the day-to-day operational heartbeat of our platform — keeping a large portfolio of WordPress sites healthy, up to date, and running smoothly.
This is a contract role with flexible, async hours (20+ hrs/week). While your schedule is yours to manage, the role has two anchored check-ins each day: a morning triage to review and prioritize open tickets, and an end-of-day wrap-up to resolve, document, or hand off anything outstanding. Everything else fits around those.
You’ll work closely with Rumspeed’s owner, following established SOPs and escalating anything that needs deeper technical attention.
What You’ll Do
Primary — Daily Site Updates
- Run daily WordPress plugin and theme updates across all hosted sites
- Monitor for failed, conflicting, or problematic updates and troubleshoot or flag them appropriately
Secondary — Website Migrations
- Execute website migrations when needed — these are scheduled in advance and must be completed on time
- Migrations are not a daily task, but when they’re on the calendar they are a priority
Support & Documentation
- Triage incoming support tickets each morning and wrap up open items at end of day
- Resolve tickets with a documentation-first mindset — when an issue arises, the goal is to understand the root cause and document how to prevent or handle it in the future
- Communicate directly with agency partners on support matters — clearly, professionally, and with genuine care and empathy for their experience
- Follow Rumspeed’s documented SOPs and contribute improvements when you spot gaps
- Escalate complex technical issues with clear context and troubleshooting notes
What We’re Looking For
- Solid hands-on experience in the WordPress admin — you’re comfortable navigating the dashboard, managing plugins and themes, and diagnosing common issues
- Experience with DNS and domain management — this is a core part of the role, not a bonus
- Experience working with a support ticket system
- A documentation mindset — you don’t just close tickets, you ask what caused the issue and how to prevent it
- A customer-first approach — our agency partners trust us completely, and every interaction should reinforce that trust
- Strong written communication — this is an async role, so clear and timely written updates are essential
- Organized and self-directed — you can manage a recurring workload with two daily check-ins as your only hard anchors
- Must be located in and available during US time zones
Nice to Have
- Familiarity with managed WordPress hosting environments
- Experience with WordPress Multisite — we maintain several and it’s a plus if you’ve worked with them
- Experience with mailbox management
- Background supporting web agencies or small businesses
Work Schedule
- Part-time, 2-4 hours per day.
- Flexible working hours with the ability to respond to urgent customer requests as needed.
- Potential to transition into a full-time role based on performance and business growth.
Benefits
- Flexible remote work environment.
- Opportunity for growth and advancement within the company.
- Gain experience working with a diverse range of clients and projects.
Compensation
Hourly rate commensurate with experience ($20-40/hr). This is a contractor/freelance engagement.

If you are excited about the opportunity to grow with us and meet the qualifications, please send your resume and a brief cover letter explaining why you are a great fit for this role.
