Many of you have probably followed Dan Cameron’s saga of losing all of his Sprout Invoices plugin reviews on WordPress.org. It’s a complex story, and I certainly see both sides.
Fortunately for me, Sarah Gooding wrote pretty much a perfect post on the subject, so that I don’t have to. She explains how there’s a need for more clear guidelines, and it looks like it’s already inspiring change.
I think most plugin authors, Dan included, are very well meaning and not intentionally breaking rules. At the same time, the plugin team is way overworked and doing so on a volunteer basis. Empathy, compassion, and mutual understanding is needed across the board, and we’re all better off giving one another the benefit of the doubt.
