What do you enjoy most about working in WordPress?
What I absolutely love about working with WordPress is the platform’s focus on usability. The fact that so many big companies are relying on WordPress but it’s also accessible for people who are new to having a website. That one platform can cater to such a wide variety of companies and people is wonderful. WordPress has been a constant factor during my career in marketing over the past 10 years and something tells me that’s not going to change anytime soon. I love its endless possibilities and the passionate community behind it that has helped it grow into the popular platform that it is today. It’s a website builder that you can recommend to anyone, and exactly that is why I love WordPress.
What do you love most about your Post Status membership?
I haven’t been that active in the Post Status channels yet. But I do like checking in there from time to time to get an idea of what’s happening in the community. It gives me an idea of what’s being talked about and the number of people involved in this worldwide project. It helps my understanding of the WordPress ecosystem and the nuances that come with everything happening. It also seems like a place where people have each other’s best interests at heart and genuinely enjoy helping each other out.
What business/web/WordPress advice do you have for others in our industry?
Something that becomes more difficult the longer you’re in our business is staying customer-focused. Always ask yourself: ‘Is this what my user would want or am I doing this because it works for me?’ This can be applied to your SEO, but also to everything else you do when it comes to your business or website. Your goal shouldn’t be to save time or be as efficient as you can. Your main goal should always be to cater to the needs of your (potential) customer. Try to keep that in mind with every decision you make and talk to your audience on a regular basis. Whether that’s offline, on social media, through your support channels or by conducting user research. They can tell you what they need and how your business fits into that.
