Jennifer Schramm, Direct of Product Marketing, SolidWP, LearnDash, The Events Calendar
Before joining the StellarWP team, I owned a full service advertising agency focused primarily on tech and B2B (from 2002-2020). As president and chief marketing strategist, my role was to help companies ranging from Fortune 10 brands to start ups achieve top-level business objectives (including but not limited to financial growth!). I especially enjoyed developing a brand’s digital presence because technologies like WordPress allow us to really hone in on segmented buyer personas and needs. In addition to product marketing for three brands at Stellar, I am pursuing a Master’s in Linguistics with the goal of conducting research on the relationship between language and trauma healing.
What do you enjoy most about working in WordPress?
From a strategist’s and product marketer’s point of view, WordPress provides flexibility and scalability that are essential for a brand’s growth. In the “good old days” when I was developing a site for a division of GE, the branching tree developing process included spreading sheets of paper out on a conference table and locking in what you would develop and adhere to for a year (or more). With WordPress, we can be agile in development and in modification, applying our learnings from a wide range of resources. WordPress sites should truly be the foundation of customer-centric marketing programs and brands that are not constantly leaning into what they are learning about their buyers are missing out.
What do you love most about your Post Status membership?
I rely on the expertise and learnings of others in order to grow and achieve the best outcomes for my brand(s). As a manager, I also have the responsibility of helping my team stretch and grow in positive ways. The Post Status community allows me to tap into the knowledge base of an open and willing-to-share group of professionals. That’s invaluable.
What business/web/WordPress advice do you have for others in our industry?
Be willing to be flexible and think in terms of scalability. That’s the beauty of WordPress. You can establish a large, audacious goal for your marketing program or digital presence. But you don’t have to eat the elephant all in one bite.
