What do you enjoy most about working in WordPress?
WordPress has been a core part of my life since around 2010. I started working with WordPress as a product reviewer on blogs about WordPress and have since focused on content marketing and community building for WordPress companies. By far, it’s the people I’ve met along the way and the things I’ve learned that make WordPress a great space to work in. This community is all about teaching, sharing, and empowering each other. It’s a rewarding culture to be a part of.
What do you love most about your Post Status membership?
I love the access it gives me to other WordPress professionals. Particularly those who also work in community. Unlike other roles, there’s rarely multiple community people at a single company. It’s extremely helpful to be able to chat with those people on a regular basis. I’ve made several new friends already! Oh, and it’s also great to gain visibility on what other WordPress insiders are up to and thinking about. Having joined relatively recently, I’m now wondering why I didn’t sign up sooner!
What business/web/WordPress advice do you have for others in our industry?
As generative AI takes the world by storm, look to develop uniquely human skills, techniques, and tactics you can implement to differentiate your business. Branding and community are two areas myself and the team at Freemius are exploring. Customers are still human and want to connect with other humans. In fact, self-reported loneliness is at an all-time high. People don’t just want to connect, they’re craving it. When AI evens the playing field in terms of what businesses can do, create, and publish online–those with the strongest relationships with their customer base/community will have an advantage that’s difficult and time consuming to compete with. So start now! If you’d like to talk about it or get a book recommendation (or two) hit me up in Slack π
