What do you enjoy most about working in WordPress?
I like the wide range of projects and use cases that can be implemented with WordPress. From small blogs to entire systems with hundreds of websites and connections to other tools. This also makes WordPress the tool of choice for a wide range of audiences – from private users to international enterprises. This in turn creates a market for a wide variety of products based on WordPress, of which we are a part. As an open-source system with a large community, WordPress also has its very own charm for me. I’m still learning new things every day, and I’m constantly surprised by how things work a little differently than I’m used to from my previous career.
What do you love most about your Post Status membership?
I’m very happy that Post Status is a community that is specifically aimed at people who are building their business on WordPress. Because WordPress appeals to such different target groups, it’s often not easy to take the business approach to WordCamps, for example. For many visitors, it’s all about interacting with the community, and they don’t like it so much when people do approach it as a business event, like one would at any trade fair.
With Post Status, we have found a great opportunity to exchange ideas with like-minded people, make interesting contacts and create partnerships. Without always having to be careful not to talk too much business because that’s what it’s all about.
What business/web/WordPress advice do you have for others in our industry?
We had to learn the hard way that many things work a little differently in WordPress than in other industries. We put our foot in our mouth a few times. I can therefore only recommend new product owners in WordPress to exchange ideas with the โold handsโ in the WordPress environment – e.g. here on Post Status.
Take advantage of their experience and let them take you by the hand at the beginning. What I like so much about the WordPress community – and what I have never experienced in any other industry before – is the helpfulness of the community members. Everyone helps each other out here, giving tips and advice. You don’t have to worry about a piece of advice having an ulterior motive because you might be talking to a potential competitor. So use the network as much as possible.
