The EFF also pulled out of the W3C, in what seems a response to the W3C’s support of Encrypted Media Extensions (EME), and specifically the implementation of DRM in the HTML working group; though I can’t tell for certain. John Gruber notes (in a correction to his post about it) that it was perhaps more to do with DMCA laws (copyright stuff) than DRM implementations. Either way, it’s a big deal and a loss for the W3C.
