The Prototype Fund is a project of the Open Knowledge Foundation Germany, funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). Individuals and small teams can apply for funding for projects related to open source tools and applications in the fields of civic tech, data literacy, data security and more.
Over the next 3 years, around 40 projects will be granted a total of 1.2 million euros. Inspired by the Knight Foundation, I first saw this on Hacker News.
