There’s an update from the WordPress Theme Review Team on their efforts to reduce manual reviews of WordPress themes, with focus in this post on a proposal for some guidelines relating to template requirements (everything from no PHP/JS errors to spelling WordPress properly). If you feel like something should be added to this list (or edited, or not on the list) give your thoughts at the next weekly meeting (Tuesdays @ 18:00 UTC on Slack).

It looks like the WordPress Theme Review Team’s proposal to overhaul the outdated tags/filters will make it into WordPress 4.6. Theme authors will want to be ready to update their themes with the new tags when this goes into effect so they can be found more easily via search.
