Wade Hammes documents his process for getting performance under control for the TrackMaven website. He cites WordPress in his “performance bankruptcy” admission, but his fixes are largely non-WordPress related, other than using W3TC. It’s still a worthwhile read if you’re considering a performance budget and looking for some introductory help.
