WooCommerce 2.3 came out today after a month log beta period. Code-named “Handsome Hippo”, WooCommerce 2.3 comes with quite a few changes, but the biggest ones are the UI, which is now flatter and Sass-based versus LESS.
I think the release may have caught some developer’s by surprise, so you may want to wait a few days for the various add-ons to get caught up after what I hear was a busy beta period.
I like they removed a couple of features with this release: namely colors and the quantity buttons. Both have been ported to plugins, but it’s a good move to remove things every now and then, especially when there’s a better method.
In related eCommerce news, WP eCommerce passed 3 million downloads today, and as Pippin Williamson noted on Twitter, they’ve really turned around their ratings lately. My interview with Justin and Dan is still one of my favorites.
