WordPress lead generation or conversion plugins are not typically my type of thing. In fact, I’ve hated every instance I’ve ever seen of them. But Syed Balkhi and Thomas Griffin have created OptinMonster, their take on a WordPress conversion plugin that I don’t hate. That’s a strong compliment for this kind of plugin from me….
Here’s a nice writeup from Valet on why they (a WordPress agency) went to DrupalCon. There are plenty of things to learn from both Drupal and WordCamp teams, and I wouldn’t mind going to a Drupal (or Joomla) conference if the opportunity presented itself.

The biggest news this week was the cancellation of WordCamp Asia due to recent COVID-19 concerns. Bill Erickson has a nice list of recommended plugins for forms, galleries, sliders, and libraries that have Gutenberg blocks. It’s impressive to see more of these come to light after the ones Matt mentioned his State of the Word at WordCamp US.
Gutenberg 4.6 is out with a relatively shorter changelog than in the past. Mostly browser related fixes (for IE11, Edge, drag-and-drop functionality), an improvement for block preview styling, and various other tweaks and fixes. This “what’s new” update has been noted as the “final” one, so we are close. WordPress 5.0 RC2 was also released….
