Matt Mullenweg led the first WordPress 3.8 planning meeting today. A bunch of potential ideas were thrown out, and it’s also been opened up on the Make Core blog. Go check out all of the options and get involved in a project you want to be a part of. As a sidenote, I’m really digging this “plugin first” approach, if it continues to go like this.

Glad you like it! What are you going to work on for the 3.8 cycle?
Hey Matt, thanks for dropping by 🙂
I commented on the post to express my interest in the content block / art direction concepts http://make.wordpress.org/core/2013/08/08/excellent-3-8-brainstorm-session-today-people-talked-about/#comment-9660
And also the screen options tabs http://make.wordpress.org/core/2013/08/08/excellent-3-8-brainstorm-session-today-people-talked-about/#comment-9654
Loving this method for core dev! It’s less stressful for someone like me that’s not super familiar w/ the core development processes and priorities
I can see lots of updating to the core contributor handbook in the docs team’s future 🙂
I’m so excited about some of these ideas. Mel Choyce’s mockups for Content Blocks look really promising.
