Kevin Ohashi has this year’s WordPress hosting performance benchmarks review up on Review Signal, and it’s another great analysis.
He reviewed 19 hosts and for some of them testing multiple configurations. He covers the biggest players and some I had never heard of.
All of the tables with test results are sortable if you click the headers, which is super helpful. Instead of ranking them overall, he put them in tiers. He also gives all 19 hosts a summary review, which is quite helpful — Kevin has a lot of knowledge in this area.
A Small Orange, Kinsta, LightningBase, Pagely, Pantheon, Pressidium, and PressLabs made his top tier list, with honorable mentions for Cloudways, SiteGround, and WP Engine.
I learned quite a bit in the post. I’m definitely intrigued to learn more about some of these top tier options, but also I am generally impressed by how well most of the list performed. Quality WordPress hosting options are on the up and up, in my opinion.
Of those that made the top tier (and even some that didn’t but were close), I think if you already use one and enjoy it for all the non-ranked components (like support), then you should stick with it. If you are using a host that didn’t perform as well, or maybe isn’t even listed as an option, this is a great post to dig into further.
