WordPress.org Adds Live Preview for Plugins
- Yesterday, a new Live Preview button in the WordPress.org plugin listing allows viewers to open a WordPress Playground instance with the plugin preloaded.
- This is a welcome feature for many, as it makes previewing the plugin simple in a disposable WordPress instance.
- Some plugin developers are concerned, since many plugins do not work correctly in Playground, potentially discouraging users from actually trying them on their sites.

NextGen and Envira Gallery Plugins and More Acquired by AwesomeMotive
- Yesterday, Syed Balkhi announced the acquisition of Envira Gallery, NextGen Gallery, Soliloquy Slider, and the Photocrati Theme to join the WPBeginner family.
- Envira Gallery and Soliloquy were originally developed by WPBeginner, but were sold to Nathan Singh in 2017.
- With the acquisition, the Awesome Motive team plans “to start innovating in the WordPress gallery space once again.”

Innovative Onboarding in the Ollie Theme Pulled After Contentious Review Process
- Mike McAlister, creator of the free Ollie theme, has decided to pull innovative onboarding features from the theme after an “unnecessarily contentious” review process.
- Despite initial endorsement from Matt Mullenweg and Josepha Haden Chomphosy, Ollie did not pass the theme review process.
