There is still some negative feedback floating around about converting theme settings to the customizer. I was going to make a list with some good resources in response, but Tom McFarlin did it for me, like the nice guy he is. I’ve found it to be quite well documented in my own experience; and as Tom notes, it’s easier to implement than the Settings API.
