Devin Price is the new owner of DevPress

Devin Price is a developer from Austin, Texas and owner of WP Theming, an excellent WordPress blog. He also hosts his plugins and themes on WP Theming.

Devin is the author of the popular Options Framework plugin, the Portfolio Post Type plugin, the Portfolio Press theme, and the Visual theme. He also sells commercial versions of some of these, called Visual+ and Portfolio+, on WP Theming.

Devin has purchased DevPress, which as you likely recall, sold on Flippa for $14,000. As Tung Do notes in the comments of that post, Devin is indeed, “competent in WordPress, is involved in giving back to the community, and has a more consistent track record than I do.”

I’m glad that my concerns about the format for the sale have been alleviated. Honestly, if I were to create a list of people that would be great candidates to take over the DevPress theme shop, Devin would probably be high on that list.

I’ve followed Devin for a long time and am confident that he will give the site a boost. I believe he has as good a shot as anyone to make DevPress successful. This move for him also fits quite well with his shift away from full time work at Demand Media; he went out on his own just a few months ago.

You can already see that Devin has control of the website, as he is the noted contact on the Whois page. He told me that he was indeed the buyer, and said that we can expect an official announcement on DevPress later today.

Devin also says that WP Theming and DevPress will remain separate websites and that he has no plans to merge the sites.
