GlotPress is a translation tool, built on BackPress. bbPress used to be on BackPress, if you need a refresher. BackPress is like an underbelly of WordPress-ish functions, but it’s quite old and no longer maintained. GlotPress has had some maintenance over the years, but that’s about it. The team decided to move it to be a WordPress plugin, and it’s a smart move, I think. Sam Sidler shares what’s ahead to make it happen. This should make GlotPress much more accessible and easy to work with. For fun, here’s WordPress.com’s current GlotPress homepage. And Apply Filters did a nice talk on BackPress/GlotPress (starting 20 minutes in). This change is all about making WordPress in every language more accessible.
