John James Jacoby has recently announced that he’s exploring how to be, “a fully funded independent ambassador for WordPress and the surrounding initiatives,” in 2017. He’s aiming to obtain sponsors that would provide him funds to work on specific projects, via monthly retainers.
You might recall that John in 2014 launched an Indiegogo campaign to fund BuddyPress, bbPress, and GlotPress Development, and this effort is in a similar vein. It will be interesting to see if he can garner the kind of support he would need to make this work.
