Josh Pollock claims it’s a matter of how, not if, Blockchain technology will affect and change WordPress. Josh identifies three areas where this is likely to happen: identity management and verification, content monetization, and secure file storage.
I’ve been digging into this realm heavily, and think Josh is absolutely right. There is also a lot of interesting overlap in the dynamics of the ecosystems, primarily due to the open source nature and mixture of OSS and corporate interests. I’ve been having a lot of fun, and I’m glad to see Josh diving in to an article like this. I have some of my own on the way.
Along the digital identity lines he mentioned specifically, Civic is one of the more well known projects in crypto, and they have a WordPress plugin on their roadmap.
