Member Spotlight: Nyasha Green

Nyasha is a Software Developer, mentor, writer, and instructor. When she’s not working she enjoys traveling, cooking, reading, and writing short stories.

What do you enjoy most about working in WordPress?

I love how warm and welcoming the community is. Whenever I have had an issue, I’ve always found a friend who would be willing to grab me by the hand and show me the way. I feel like there are a lot of good people who want others to succeed. I also enjoy working with the technology. As a developer, I know some devs hate the “million ways to do something” approach but I love and thrive in it. It shows that we can all find different ways to tell our stories.

What do you love most about your Post Status membership?

Post Status keeps my finger on the pulse of what happens in the WordPress community. It’s a place where I can go to be in the know about workplace layoffs, acquisitions, or even to meet new additions to the WordPress family. I also enjoy the healthy discussions you can have around different topics and changes.

Discussion is encouraged and I think that’s something that the community needs more of. People talking and sharing opinions about our World of WordPress. It is also an amazing place to network! I’ve met so many great colleagues with my Post Status membership and opportunities to advance my career.

What business/web/WordPress advice do you have for others in our industry?

The resources might seem hard to find but there are many out there that will lay down the basics of working in WordPress. I feel like a lot of us are in the rat race to keep up with everything that’s changing. We want to know just the latest and greatest way to use WordPress. That is great but there’s nothing like going back to your roots. That also helps with a lot of questions about why certain things changed. Understand as the project ages, it still wants to have more and more people join it. And that means making changes.
