What do you enjoy most about working in WordPress?
WordPress is such an extendable platform. Having tried to develop an extension for a radio station website in Joomla, I moved to WordPress and had it up and running within hours. I can spin sites up quickly, make them look good and then write plugins to handle some of my needs. Additionally, there are some high quality mature plugins from other companies that work extremely well. Such a versatile solution.
What do you love most about your Post Status membership?
The wide range of experience and knowledge is amazing. Questions come up and many will respond on the Slack groups with plenty of strong suggestions. Many members will happily share their experience and pitfalls to help them avoid the same traps. The news round ups help keep me up to date with what is happening in the WordPress world as well. It’s also great seeing other members helping out other members in times of need too.
What business/web/WordPress advice do you have for others in our industry?
Not everything is an emergency. If you’re a small bootstrapped company or it is a side hustle do not attempt to match the support of a well-funded 24×7 operation. Be honest with your customers. The human side goes so far. You can turn an angry customer into a happy one by telling the truth and if you miss emails/messages or bugs, apologizing. Give relatable timelines on fixes as well. Try and under promise and over deliver!
