WooThemes recently announced a partnership with Codeable for referring people for small customizations to their sites. Now Envato announced Microlancer for a similar concept. I know there are others, like Tweaky, as well. And there’s a WordPress centric one somewhere too I can’t recall. Seems like mini-freelance projects are quite the trend.
I know a ton of personal contacts I get are basically for this type of service. What do you think? Is it sustainable for a freelancer to work this way? I don’t (typically) find it terribly profitable or rewarding. But it can be consistent.
I happily refer theme customers to Tweaky and can see short summaries of the jobs ordered. Something your cat can do like change a logo might be worth $39 but I’m seeing jobs for adding custom fields and taxonomies for that price! With time, I think pricing on these microlancing sites will be worked out to be sustainable or they will be good opportunities only for hobbyists, the unusually and amazingly fast, and service providers from developing countries.
The WordPress-centric one you’re thinking about is likely http://www.wpquestions.com/
