Off-the-rack CMSs like WordPress and Drupal are OK for small-to-medium sites, but aren’t particularly well suited to be the framework for a major publishing operation.
Okay. Though I find it hilarious that such a comment is made on a blog whose parent company utterly failed building a custom solution, and had to resort to using WordPress to do rudimentary web publishing things, like linking. I don’t know though, it’s not like WordPress runs half the top 100 blogs or anything.
I should also note this excellent retort by Alley Interactive questioning Salmon’s statement.

Agreed. Especially the ones that mention the author getting paid by the word, which basically means most of the article is not that well researched.
It’s a real shame to see this misinformation being spread on such a famous platform.
