CoinDesk reports that Automattic has removed Bitcoin from accepted payment options. The original news by Automattic to support Bitcoin in 2012 was heavily covered and applauded.
Matt Mullenweg commented on the CoinDesk article that it’s perhaps not gone forever:
We’re still big believers in Bitcoin, but we’re doing some major refactoring and streamlining of our checkout process right now and Bitcoin is lower in priority since it’s relatively low volume compared to our more traditional transaction options.
We will definitely keep in mind adding Bitcoin support back in the future.
I know some people really love Bitcoin, but I just can’t imagine it is used by any significant percentage of buyers.
