Gutenberg engineer Matias Ventura explains on his blog how the new editor will simplify tasks that are complex and difficult for WordPress users today.
Matias reviews some of the architectural features the Gutenberg team decided to focus on, such as placeholders, blocks, and layer templates. Optimizing for the user is a key theme. Gutenberg needs to support the creation of sophisticated layouts that users can modify without fear they will break something.
