Kimberly Coleman is an expert in user experience and has spent the last fifteen years as a frontend designer and developer. Her role in digital marketing refined a deep understanding of the stages in a business life cycle, from the seed of an idea to maturity and commercialization of the technology. Together with her husband, Kim leads a team of fourteen people building Paid Memberships Pro, a WordPress plugin that helps individuals and organizations make recurring revenue online to find freedom in their lives and to achieve their respective goals. She’s currently supporting the launch of a new product, Sitewide Sales, to support WooCommerce, EDD, and PMPro sites in running better sales for Black Friday, Cyber Monday, and other flash events.
What do you enjoy most about working in WordPress?
I appreciate the huge amount of resources available for any question I have—whether it’s a question about building my business with WordPress, developing products and services, or ways to support the community. So many people with so much knowledge and experience, and all so willing to jump on a call or a text chat and share. I know this is unique to our community and I hope we can be a model for other communities and industries. Working together helps everyone (even when you may be working alongside your “competitor”).
What do you love most about your Post Status membership?
Post Status has helped develop partnerships and (overall) just deepen relationships with people through safe and supportive Slack conversation, direct messages with someone always ready to lend a helpful ear, and a space to share what challenges I may be facing with our growing company.
What business/web/WordPress advice do you have for others in our industry?
Sometimes you need to listen to your inner voice, and sometimes you need to tell it to be quiet. In the past, my inner voice stopped me from asking “obvious” questions. And I often hesitated to share my experience, assuming my words were boring or uninspiring. The more you can push those concerns aside, the more you gain and can contribute to the WordPress community and the community here on Post Status.
We’re happy to have Kim as a Post Status member!
